2 weeks old and the aquascape is looking nice and lush. Some of the crypts have a few melting leaves but overall they are holding up really well. They are starting to blossom with life now.

This has caused some very minor hair algae outbreaks although when I say minor I do mean that. they are very small and isolated.








14th September 2008

The Microrasboras have now been in for 2 months and are very hard to spot. These are very timid fish and not for people who like to watch their fish in the open.

I came back from a planned 15 day holiday which, due to 'a budget airline' leaving my family and I stranded in Portugal became an 18 day 'holiday'. The airline did not want to know so we ended up having to pay for some other flights back and then attempt to claim back the costs on our return.

One problem was that I had ordered 6 Black Corys to arrive on the day after our return which we would now not be back for!!! Me being a calm and quick thinking person I emailed my father with some instructions for acclimatising and hoped for the best. He did a great job and the day after my actual return I received 14 Cherry Shrimp.

Story of the tank while I was away was 8 hours@0.9WPG, no dosing, no CO2, no water changes. Father feeding the fish every 4 days. Results were surprising. The Anubias went a gorgeous dark green, the needle leaf Java went mad, the phillipine had a few deteriorating leaves, the crypts were unphased!!! After some pruning and general cleaning up it all looked great. I also returned to a bacterial bloom. So did 25% water changes each night for a week which sorted it ;)
