The clearing

18th April 2007

More plants added : Nympheae Rubra and Philippine Java Fern.

Have ordered a Tetratec EX700 external filter and a Hydor 200W inline heater. Also added a 2Ltr DIY bottle to the Nutrafins to try and keep the CO2 up. CO2 is becoming an obsession.

The staghorn and BBA is incredible at this point. Mostly directly under the CF tube. It is too intense in a small area and I am starting to look into theories of light spread rather than just the amount.

30th April 2007

Bought some new plants : Alternanthera Reinecki, Ludwigia Repens and Rotala Rotundifolia however disaster struck today.

I installed pressurised CO2 during the week which comprised of a dual gauge welding regulator for disposable bottles, a needle valve and solenoid off ebay and some disposable 600g CO2 bottles.

The needle valve off ebay was second hand and had let the whole bottle dump in the tank whilst I was at work. Bright yellow DC and totally dead livestock.

7th May 2007

All the new equipment has arrived and has been setup. The CO2 is on well above necessary seeing as there is no livestock in this tank and with a new needle valve in there is running at yellow constantly. No algae visible.

Have decided the new inhabitants will be : 4 x Pitbull Plecostomus, 20 Cardinal Tetras and some Otos
