With the veneer dry the paving slab was removed. The template was returned to the face of the guitar and screwed down. Using a router with a pattern tracing bit I ran around the outline and then the cavities.
At this stage I made sure that the thin neck template that I had made fitted and it did perfectly. Also at this point I assembled some parts on the guitar to make sure things fitted and would look OK.
I drilled the wiring holes with an old manual drill and then using a 7/8" old flat wood bit in a standard cordless drill I set about doing the jack socket hole. Finally for today out came the neck blank and I routed the truss rod channel.

Continuing on the neck blank is roughly cut and then using a template is routed to the final shape. Then the truss rod is fitted into the channel. There are some burn marks on the outer of the neck which will be sanded off. The fillet is cut and glued into position. Finally it is clamped down overnight. A small square is left at the heel end where the brass block is. Another little fillet will seal this.
