Under the forest canopy

9th April 2008

I pruned the Zenkeri heavily because they were blocking the circulation from carrying the CO2 bubbles around the tank. I also had to heavily prune the Blyxa Japonica.

The UV has been disconnected and sold on ebay which meant I could reduce the length of hose and remove an obstacle from my return.

I changed over to Tropica plant nutrition+ dosing as I got a bottle for free.

I decided to get another pair of Bolivian Rams seeing as the original female was getting far to stressed out at the males unwanted attention and they didn't look like forming a pair.

The foreground is more open and the fish love it.

The tank has been taking a back seat for the last month or so, as have water changes

This of course led to the inevitable algae outbreaks with the diffusor not being cleaned weekly. I changed from Tropica plant nutrition+ when the bottle ran out and returned to the PMDD+P recipe.

I am adding EasyCarbo daily at the recommended dosage just to help remove the algae.

At this point I am considering my next aquascape, something more manageable. I removed virtually all of the Blyxa as it was growing like a weed.

The two adult bolivian rams have been spawning but the female pushes the male away after the eggs are laid. She then gets hungry after a couple of days and eats the wrigglers.
