Description A Trash to Treasure Resin Bangle. We have hand made this trash to treasure resin bangle with woven fibre using a woven string bag cleared off the eastern side beach of Fraser Island [ K’Gari]. This woven string bag is a traditional hand woven bag from Papua New Guinea and is called a ” Bilum”. Somehow it found its way from Papua New Guinea to Fraser Island and is now a feature in this bangle. Because we reuse plastics and man made debris in our jewellery, as a way to raise awareness about the plastics in our oceans, we couldn’t resist trying to reuse this bag as well. The simple use of a panel from this bag aims to showcase that trash and rubbish from one country doesn’t stay there. Ocean currants and tides move our trash silently along the ocean floor. A Trash To Treasure Resin Bangle That Carries An Environmental Message. Incorporating debris and plastic netting collected from local beaches as well as our waterways, this delightfully multiply coloured bangle showcases man made waste. Hand collected by both volunteers and recreational dive groups, the plastic and man made waste has been featured as a deliberate environmental statement.
